Watch for Carrie Lennard in the up and
coming contemporary folk music scene. Carrie’s sweet, angelic voice, fine acoustic guitar skills and personal lyrics paints masterpieces of emotional snapshots on her current album, "Kayla".
Carrie’s voice, (and what a voice!), invokes favorable comparisons to Joan Baez and Joni Mitchell. Her style, though, is her own and shines with a rich luster on tracks 1, "You Make Me Sing" and 10, "Kayla".
Track 8, "Poisoned Words" is my personal favorite. This is a powerful, anger driven, blues tinged song that highlights an edgier aspect of Carrie’s voice not found elsewhere on this CD. The creative bass work by Joe Parker on this track is outstanding.
Julz Parker added to the charm of this project by producing this professional sounding CD.

Who Are Your Band Members? Julz Parker, Jo Parker, Chubs Winterhaven and Mandy Mayhew. On the latest CD "Kayla" I sing and play acoustic guitar, Julz Parker's on lead (acoustic) and percussion, Jo Parker's on fretless bass, Chubs Winterhaven on percussion and Mandy Mayhew's on backing vocals. Julz, Jo and Chubs are from the Gold Coast, Australia and are the most superb guys to work with. Check out their amazing songs and playing on http://www.projectwinterhaven.com. Mandy is a professional actor and singer, who, having worked successfully in the West End for some years, is now currently training to be a Clown Doctor at Great Ormond Street, London, UK with The Theodora Trust and she is loving it!
How Did You Get Started? My mother was a music teacher and she got me started on piano but I fell in love with guitars at an early age. I started playing when I was 11 on a beat-up old guitar that had a bit missing out of the body. It didn't stop me and I have never looked back. It's my life and continues to be so. I've been singing since I can remember, it's like breathing.
Who Or What Inspires Your Music? Joni Mitchel, Joan Armatrading, PJ Harvey, Allison Kraus, Annie Lennox, Beethoven, Paul Robeson, Kathleen Ferrier to mention a few. When I was small I listened to a lot of Beethoven cos my mother was a pianist and still, today, Beethoven's music stops me dead in my tracks. It moves me beyond words and listening to Paul Robeson fills me with incredible emotion, listening into "Curly Headed Baby" reminds me of how, at an early age, I was drawn to specific aspects of a song. Katheleen Ferrier's story is remarkable and her voice, hauntingly beautiful.
What Was Your Most Memorable Gig? The most memorable gig was when Mandy Mayhew and I performed at The Talk Of The Town in London UK. We were the finalists for the "West End Cares" song writing competition and performed our co-written song to an audience of famous songwriters and West End performers.
Upcoming Tour Locations/Dates: Currently, co-running the Girls with Guitars (UK) songwriter showcase every month in Covent Garden, London (http://www.girlswithguitars.co.uk) and gigging round London. Mandy and I are off to Nashville, USA at the end of July 2005 to promote the new CD.
