Thomas Clausen Trio – She Touched Me CD

Monday, August 28th, 2006

CD Of The Day

Thomas Clausen is considered to be one of the most important jazz pianist of the European scene. Clausen’s influences include Bill Evans, Gary Burton and Alban Berg. Clausen combines ethereal impressionistic jazz with rhythmic energy, creating a unique sound that has the listener ‘feeling’ the music.

On ‘She Touched Me’, Clausen is again joined by bassist Mads Vinding and drummer Alex Riel; two veterans of jazz who have played with numerous groups all over Europe. The Thomas Clausen Trio has been working together since 1987, appearing on tours and at festivals and have built up an extensive following.

Weaving a variety of styles, ‘She Touched Me’ steers mostly toward a post-bop style, with a modern creative edge.

Getting rare and hard to find, Media Medley offers Thomas Clausen Trio, “She Touched Me” for your consideration.

Mini Oil Painting Of An Ice Cream Scooper

Thursday, August 24th, 2006

I’ve spent a good part of the week wondering what to paint next. After all, I had said I would paint one small painting each week. By dinner time Thursday night I still hadn’t decided on a subject. So, just for the fun of it, I asked my son what I should paint.

“Paint an ice cream scooper,” he said after a moment. Inwardly I groaned. Our ice cream scooper? That’s a tough one to paint with it’s metal and odd curves. Still, it was an idea, and better than none. So here, offered for your enjoyment, is our ice cream scoop.

Mini oil painting of an ice cream scooper

This small oil painting of an ice cream scooper on a soft blue background is painted on canvas covered art board. It is 5 inches by 7 inches in size. It should be dry enough to ship around September 22, 2006. Purchase price: $19.95.

Allison Kile’s Walk The Talk CD

Music CD Of The Day

Today I ran across this interesting CD. It’s not expensive, it’s a Christian CD, and the artist isn’t even listed in a well-known music database. But Walk The Talk is a tangible piece of Allison Kile’s life before it went horribly wrong.

There’s not a lot of info on the web about her, but piecing things together we found she had lived in Alabama and had been married to Clarence “Rick” Kile. Allison had gotten a spot on a radio and performed with International Evangelist Perry Stone’s ministry. At some point, the Bates Brothers Recording Company helped Allison get a deal with Freedom Records. In her credits for the 1995 CD, “Walk The Talk”, she wrote:

To my husband Rick: Thank you for your love, support, and belief in me! (Thanks for pushing me out of my comfort zone.)

Their life must have looked pretty good for a time.

Still, somehow, something went terribly wrong. The next report of Allison Kile and her husband, came from a 2004 Birmingham newspaper that reported,

Eatmon and Aundra Marshall kidnapped and killed Clarence and Allison Kile because of a drug debt owed to Marshall. Clarence and Allison Kile were tied up, beat with a lead pipe, forced into the trunk of their car. Eatman and Marshall doused the car with gasoline and burned the Kiles alive. The Kiles had to be identified with dental records and fingerprints.

Clarence was only 48 years old, and Allison 39. (Eatmon and Aundra Marshall were given death sentences.)

This is a terribly sad end for any person, but made more so because of the loss of such wonderful talent. Allison Kile is listed at several Christian web sites as a Christian alternative to the secular dance/techno sounds of Mariah Carey. You can pick up this CD of the Kiles’ brighter days here at Media Medley on Ebay.
