I’m a little backed up with commissioned works of art for people’s Christmas presents. My schedule should clear up by the end of October, at which time I’ll be back to painting the mini oils. Thank you for your understanding.

Tonight was “don the paint clothes” night. I’m pretty excited. I have a couple of commissions to create portraits. Unfortunately, I can’t blog about the work I’m doing on them because they are Christmas presents! Anyway, I mention this because it also means I’d rather paint for fun tonight. I need to remember how to have a bit of fun.

So what was on my mind while I painted this? I have a group of friends who are in the midst of a squabble. I was thinking of their hearts and this is what came pouring out. I call this painting of my friends the Dancing Sisters. Yes, it kind of does look like some alien vine. I have no idea why!

Another week, another mini oil painting. Last week it was summer heat. Today when I woke up and took my dog for his morning stroll, I noticed the cool breeze. When I came back, I opened up the windows and saw the trees were already changing colors.

I went outside to look at the colors at closer range and noticed that I have a tree with different shaped leaves on it. I don’t know what kind of tree it is (probably a pin oak) but it looked interesting, so of course I snagged a small branch for my painting subject tonight.
