Countdown Sale

TOP del.icio.us

Today I’m running an experiment of a countdown sale. Not sure Sunday is the best day for this, but I have another popular item in my shop that I’ll try during the week as well.

So what is a Countdown Sale? Every hour the discount increases until someone buys it, or it hits 10% of the original value. This first hour, there is 10% OFF the original price. The next hour there will be 20% off. This will continue until someone purchases the sale item or the final price is 10% of the original price.

The sale today will be on the Melbourne Beach, FL 1a ACEO (oil painting) that is listed on Etsy.

What should I learn from this failed Countdown Sale?
A. I’ll never get a first Esty sale
B. Don’t run sale on Sundays
C. Ppl can’t afford .99 cent art
D. ? Other ?

I think I’ll assume first that my art is worthy of selling.
Secondly, I assume people CAN afford art if they want it. They can afford jewelry and makeup, etc.
Thirdly, this might be something that requires a following. Therefore, I shall cultivate a following. What day of the week should I do this? It requires me to be at the computer for at least 9 hours, meaning less time for art creation. Ok, I’ll try this again. And will attempt to build some buzz before hand. Just as soon as I make up my mind which day to run the next Countdown Sale.
